Forget Mahrez, Arsenal eyeing bargain price for £72m-rated Madrid winger
You can keep your Lacazettes, and your Mahrez’s, there’s a new kid on the block as we are apparently now eyeing Real Madrid’s Colombian attacker James Rodriguez, according to Gazetta dello Sport.
Having completed the signing of Granit Xhaka, Asano Takano and Rob Holding but still no more senior players, it was thought that all eyes were on strengthening the centre back position, but the latest reports from the Italian sport paper, claim that Sir Wenger has now diverted his attention to signing Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.
They report that the Los Blancos outfit are ready to sell the highly-rated winger as he has failed to force his way into Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI and has only started 17 games under Zidane.
Zidane has promoted fellow attacker Marco Asensio so it seems like the Colombian international is rapidly falling down the pecking order in Madrid.
The Daily Star report that a bid worth £72m has already been tabled for the Rodriguez, but no mention of a specific club, but could this be the attacking superstar we need to bolster the ranks and all but complete the Arsene Wenger jigsaw puzzle this season? It would certainly go some way to getting rid of the bloodthirsty Gooners this summer off of Wenger’s back, for ten minutes at least…
