Wenger wants to finally seal £25m deal for Arsenal, as a perfect partner for Koscielny

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Italian defender Daniele Rugani and it’s thought that the Gunners submitted a £25m bid to bring in another defender to The Emirates this summer, according to the Calciomercato.

The Gunners’ manager has completed the signing of Granit Xhaka and he is also on the lookout to sign world class striker but a central defender is also believed to be on the Frenchman’s shopping list this summer, with Bolton’s young centre back Rob Holding also said to be on the radar.

So many names have been linked with a move to North London including Napoli’s defender Kalidou Koulibaly, but the reports from Calciomercato mentions that with both Chelsea and Everton pushing for a deal, the price tag looks like it may be too much for Wenger.

Rugani, 21, has been linked with a move to the Emirates for some time now and the report from Calciomercato claimed that Arsenal have stepped up their interest with an offer said to be around £25m.

The 21-year-old ace is finding it difficult to get a regular playing time at the Turin Stadium with the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli all preferred ahead of him.

The North London club should be able to offer the highly rated ace more playing time if he finally joins Arsenal as they are in need of a regular partner for Koscielny after Per Mertesacker failed to be consistent last season, with question marks about his pace.

However, it looks like the Gunners will need to push ahead for a deal if they want to land Rugani as the Italian news outlet claims that Juventus are keen to keep Rugani ahead of the new season.
