Arsenal fans claims Sanchez retired Messi from international football

Arsenal fans have sensationally claimed that Alexis Sanchez the Gunners forward retired Lionel Messi in the final of the Copa America last night.

Argentina and Chile fought tooth and nail in the final and both team incredibly reduced to 10 men as early as half-time.

The Chileans at the end came out as winners, with the game going all the to the dreaded penalty shoot-out which saw the Arsenal forward’s team win 4-2.

Following the devastating defeat, Lionel Messi has since quit international football, while the Chilean has walked away from the tournament with the Golden Ball after receiving an award as the best player of the tournament.

The Chilean teammate Eduardo Vargas won the Golden Boot after finishing as the top scorer with six goals, while Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was awarded with the Golden Glove.

However, the Chile did not concede a goal in the knockout stages of the tournament, and denied Argentina’s Lucas Biglia with a crucial save in the penalty shootout. Read about all of the Copa America results here.

The Copa America winners also dominated the selections for the Copa’s Best XI, with eight players selected. The other three were Argentina players — including Lionel Messi, who missed his penalty in the shootout and then he will retire from internationals.

The north London outfit supports wasted no time in claiming Sanchez, who has helped Chile beat Messi in two successive Copa America championship, was the man who also retired the brilliant Barcelona player.

However, after the Chilean picked up three goals and one assist at the tournament, the Golden Ball, which is handed to the best play in the tournament, was handed over to the Arsenal forward.

Sanchez scored twice in a must-win game against Panama that sent Chile through to the knockout stages, and then had one goal and two assists in a 7-0 thrashing of Mexico in the quarterfinals.

He celebrated the marvelous win by posing with his trophies and medal in the changing room after the game, writing, “I am speechless.”

In the aftermath of the match at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil was quick to congratulate his Gunners teammate on social media.

‘Congrats to my Arsenal teammate Alexis Sanchez for becoming player of the tournament and Copa America champion!’ the German playmaker wrote on Twitter. Ozil will feature for Germany in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 after Joachim Low’s side defeated Slovakia 3-0 in the last-16 on Sunday. We will be hoping both Sanchez and Ozil return to Arsenal pre-season injury-free ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
