Shorts Report: Arsenal 1-1 Spurs

Match Report

A first half own goal from Kevin Wimmer was the highlight of a pretty poor performance at home against Spurs this weekend.

After recent amazing, rallying performances, late winners, wondergoals, and with Spurs on the slide with a run of draws, it was inevitable this game went back to the drabness you associate with Tottenham of late.

Lets hope we can rediscover our recent form for our game in 2 weeks time at Old Trafford, click here for all of your Manchester United vs Arsenal odds.

The talk of ourselves hitting the summit of the Premier League and ending Spurs unbeaten run of draws was short lived, and never really looked like happening, our side perhaps shellshocked by Spurs playing three at the back and having no Deli Alli and not winning the league for nearly 60 years.

Harry Kane scored an equalising penalty after the break after Koscielny had breathed on Dembele from a jaunty angle to level things up, and after that the game could have gone either way.

Arsene Wenger threw everything into attack, but sadly, everything included very poor substitute performances from The Ox and a returning Rambo, Olivier Giroud looked slightly better but no one really came out of the game with any shining praise, aside from possibly Granit Xhaka who was solid in the middle as usual.

Hector Bellerin said we deserved more on Arsenal.com, but in fairness a draw was probably a fair result, and I think most Gooner’s attitudes were ‘at least we didn’t lose’. Hector said:

“I’m a bit disappointed with the result because I think the team deserved a bit more than just a draw, we had loads of chances all through the game, especially at the end of the second half. We couldn’t be efficient enough to get another goal back and we need to learn from it. I think the team had a good performance defensively and then we knew how to play them in behind, we knew being very direct was going to hurt them but I think we’ve just got to take the positives and look at the next game…”
