Sky Sports confirms Wenger’s surprise statement on transfer – fans will like this
Premier League, Transfers October 20, 2016During the summer window, most of the media were linking Arsenal and England international attacker Theo Walcott with a move away from the Emirates due to several lacklustre performances, and increasing frustration with the fans.
The latest report now claims Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed he never considered selling the England international at any point. Walcott was linked with a move to West Ham United, but the report from Wenger now claims he never spoke with the club about selling him.
While the French manager agreed there WAS an offer for the England international, he also said he never had discussion with any club:
“Look, I didn’t speak to anybody because I was not ready to let him go. I always wanted to keep him.” He said as quoted by Sky Sports.
Walcott’s performances over the recent weeks have been impressive so it no surprise poor West Ham offered a deal worth £25 million for the England international.
However, it will have been a great loss for Arsenal if Wenger had agreed to the Hammers offer and given his performances so far this season, it would have been Arsene Wenger’s biggest mistake had Theo been sold.
Theo scored yet another amazing goal last night in the 6-0 win over Ludogorets, and it’s back to Premier League action this weekend when Middlesbrough come to The Emirates.
