Emmanuel Petit: Arsenal won’t win the title if Wenger doesn’t…
Premier League October 17, 2016According to a report in The Metro, Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit believes his former club won’t win the Premier League title until manager Arsene Wenger signs a striker that scores 40 goals a season. You may remember Petit from being blonde and quick, and his christian name being the same as a well know adult film series from the 70s.
Towards the end of the summer transfer window Arsenal completed the signing of Deportivo striker Lucas Perez in a deal worth £17 million but he has not featured in too many games due to injury and because Alexis Sanchez has filled the central striker role so well.
The North London outfit have won all of their last six matches and haven’t lost a game since the 4-3 defeat at home against Liverpool.
However, Petit believed Arsenal won’t lift another title until Wenger signs a world-class hitman.
He said as quoted by SFR Sport via The Metro:
“Even though I love Arsenal and Arsene, I try to stay objective, they never quite satisfy me, and they often frustrate me.
As long as Arsenal don’t have a striker who scores 40 goals a season like Aguero does at Manchester City. That’s what you need in any league: a striker who is one of the best in the world…”
Though, Petit’s statement sounds like he is against us, I personally thinks he has a point and most Arsenal fans agree that a world class centre forward would complete the puzzle so perhaps Alexis Sanchez could be the answer, it certainly seems to be working so far.
