Arsenal 3-0 Chelsea

Match Report, Premier League

In our finest performance of the season so far, we put Chelsea to the sword with some amazing, attacking football, running out 3-0 winners at The Emirates on Saturday evening.

Alexis robbed Tim Cahill as he tried to pass back to Courtois, nicking the ball off him, then chipping the keeper for 1-0. Then Theo (yes, Theo!) got on the scoresheet after a sensational move, which ended up with the simplest of finishes for a rejuvenated Walcott. After that, it was fantasy football time, Costa was getting bossed by Koscielny and Mustafi, the ref having none of his histrionics for a change, he even got booked.

Sanchez and Ozil were electric together as their bromance continues to bloom, culminating in our third goal. The pair found themselves sweeping forward on a break and Sanchez found Ozil at the far post, where he hit the ball into the ground, over Courtois and in off the post for 3-0. Dream scenes.

Other stand out performances, were that of Hector Bellerin who pulled off several crucial tackles, and blocks, including one Bobby Mooresque tackle towards the end of the game. Alex iWobi also stood out and was awarded Man of the Match by Sky but everyone played their part in the win, our first over Chelsea for many years.

This week, we entertain Basel on Wednesday in the Champions League, then travel to Burnley on Sunday for the late game, following Man City v Spurs earlier in the day.

I can’t remember the last time, I was so pleased with an Arsenal performance, probably Leicester at home last season (if you don’t include Aston Villa as that was more to laugh at Spurs’ Spursiness). It’s been a long time coming!
