Deal close: Former Arsenal striker set to complete move

Champions League, Transfers

According to a report coming out of France via The Metro, former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor could be about to join Lyon in the hope of playing more Champions League football. The Togolese international striker is currently without a club after leaving Crystal Palace this summer.

Adebayor, 32, has played in Ligue 1 in France before, playing for both Metz and Monaco, before Arsene Wenger bought him for Arsenal in 2006 where he scored 62 goals in 142 games. He then left to join Manchester City and had spells with Real Madrid and this season’s Europa League favourites; Tottenham.

I’ve always thought he could have been an amazing player if only someone had taught him what offside was at the start of his career, anyway…

The report from L’Equipe via The Metro claims that he is about to join Lyon to ‘improve’ their attack, and since Lyon’s 3-0 Champions League victory this week, the club president Jean-Michel Aulas said that they are still trying to improve their squad offensively and the the signing of Adebayor will apparently ‘really improve their squad’.

In the words of Jack Wilshere: ‘ok mate’.
