Good morning reader (the other one is on holiday) and yesterday was a very good day to be an Arsenal fan after the frustration of late.
Not only did we run out 3-1 winners away at Watford to kick start our season, but Arsene Wenger also confirmed our double signing Saturday madness.
We’ve finally landed Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez, the centre back and striker combo we’ve all been crying out for since losing at home to Swansea last season.
With injuries to Gabriel and Mertesacker pre-season, and long terms injury befalling Welbeck and long term rubbishness which Theo has been suffering, these two new additions should pave the way to a very good squad for the remainder of the season.
To be fair, Theo actually played well yesterday, and had a hand in a couple of the goals. Santi Cazorla scored from the spot after an elbow to Alexis, Sanchez himself doubled the lead, before Ozil scored a brilliant header from a pinpoint Sanchez cross, just on the half time whistle. Watford piled on the pressue in the second half, but some good keeping from Cech, and a great game for Bob Holding and Laurent Koscielny saw the game out.
So, we finally grabbed our first win, and now with two weeks off for the interlull nobody understands, we have time get our new players settled in (who knows, we might even get another one!), get Rambo and iWobi back into the fold. Let’s hope for an injury free international break, and a very healthy squad to pick from for the Southampton at home game.
Champions League News…
We were handed a fairly favourable draw last Thursday in Monaco. We’ll play PSG, Basel and Ludogorets in this season’s group stage, before our inevitable last 16 exit, where we’re chasing one more goal, which doesn’t quite arrive.
Anyway, that’s about it, more later!
