Not Perez – Talks ongoing for 27-goal goal machine – ace wants Premier League switch

After England and Leicester striker Jamie Vardy snubbed a move to the Emirates back in June, we’ve missed out several other big names if the media are to be believed.

Over recent years, Arsenal have been without the services of a quality striker ever since the departure of Robin van Persie, who left to join Man United. Olivier Giroud was meant to be his replacement, but has failed to live up to expectations, and with Danny Welbeck injured long term, it’s thought that this summer, Arsene Wenger would definitely be signing us that quality striker we so clearly need.

The latest report from HITC claim that, Algerian international striker Islam Slimani is top of Arsenal’s shopping list and we have made contact with Sporting Lisbon over a possible move to the North London.

Slimani has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and the likes of newly-relegated Newcastle, West Ham and Everton are all said to be showing a keen interest in landing the highly-rated forward.

It’s thought Arsenal are now ready to divert their attention away from France and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette to land the 28-year-old.

Since Slimani joined Sporting Lisbon in 2013 he has scored 47 goals in 80 games, and scored 27 times in just 33 appearances last season.

The news outlet further report that the Algerian has admitted he wants a move to the Premier League, and with Arsenal willing to pay around £25m to land him, this deal could be happening despite his release clause being around £30m.

The report claims talks are ongoing, so it remains to be seen whether we can land the player before the end of this transfer window but things need to start moving faster if Wenger is to land any more of his targets.
