Mustafi’s friend confirms ace will leave Valencia amid Arsenal interest

The saga of Shkodran Mustafi to Arsenal is still rumbling along as Arsene Wenger looks to replace our injured centre back pairing. Per Mertesacker and Gabriel both picked up serious injuries in pre-season and Arsenal have been linked with the German international for weeks and it looks like the deal is finally heading for a conclusion.

Last week, Mustafi’s agent was quoted by The Mirror claiming the highly-rated defender has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal as the move edges closer by the day.

Yesterday, a reliable Journalist claimed that Mustafi is personally keen on a move to Arsenal but the price Valencia are demanding seems to be a lot higher than Arsenal are proposing, despite the Spanish side’s need to sell to avoid FFP sanctions.

The speculation was further fuelled after the 24-year-old ace’s former team-mate, Roberto Soriano confirmed that Mustafi IS on the verge of a move.

Soriano and Mustafi became friends during their time together at Sampdoria, Soriano has joined Valencia and had hoped his friend would help him to settle in Spain. However, Soriano has confirmed as soon as he arrives in Spain, Mustafi will be leaving, according to the report from El Desmarque:

“I have no luck.  I do not know what to do. In any case, if there are big clubs are interested in him that means that he is doing very well and I’m happy for him. I’m a little less happy for me, I had hoped he would help me adapt to life in Spain. I came for him and now he goes…”

Soriano didn’t mention which club was in for his friend, but surely the weeks and weeks of rumours can’t be without substance, and he is surely Arsenal bound soon.
