Arsenal submit an improved bid for Chelsea and Barca 17-goal target, player already agreed personal terms
One thing most Arsenal fans agree on is that Theo Walcott has failed to be consistent for quite a while now, and if we’re serious about a title challenge, it’s a piece of the puzzle which needs Arsene Wenger’s attention.
A poor season last time out and more poor performances this pre-season have led to many Arsenal fans being frustrated at Theo, despite, to be fair a fairly decent performance against Manchester City in our final friendly of the close season.
After opening the summer window with the brilliant signing of Granit Xhaka, things have got quiet, but Le Boss has confirmed he is still down the market trying to signing some quality players.
It’s thought that centre back Mustafi is set to join in the coming days to alleviate our injury crisis at the back, but what of the front line?
A report emanating from France, it’s being said that we have now tabled an improved bid worth €41million (£35million) for Algeria and Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez. After an initial £30million bid was rejected by Leicester City, the report from L’Equipe via Teamtalk insist that we have now submitted an improved bid for last season’s PFA Player of the Year.
It’s being bandied about that Mahrez has already agreed personal term with the North London outfit worth £100,000 a week, and that he’s refusing to extend his contract at the King Power Stadium.
Foxes Manager Claudio Ranieri claims that Mahrez has been unsettle by the speculation which is flying around about a move to Arsenal, and it’s been reported that Leicester are looking to sign former triallist Liandro Martis who has been on trial at the club, and is already drawing comparisons with Mahrez.
Leicester opened the Premier League defence of their title yesterday with a defeat at Hull City, and one time Arsenal target Jamie Vardy and Mahrez himself both had very poor games compared to their showings last season.
Mahrez had a brilliant season with Leicester last season, helping them to win the Premier League with 17 goals in just 37 games. It’s thought that Arsenal remains his preferred destination, despite Chelsea and Barcelona reportedly showing a keen interest in signing him.
