BBC confirms Arsenal target has signed five year contract

Nigeria and Watford’s highly-rated striker Odion Ighalo has put pen to paper on a new five year contract, bringing an end to the speculation of a departure from Watford according to the BBC.

The Nigerian international striker scored 17-goals for the Hornets last season and some brilliant performances drew the attention of Arsenal and West Brom and a bid said to be around £38million was tabled by China’s Shanghai SIPG.

The 27-year-old ace told the BBC that:

“I feel at home here and once the opportunity to extend was finalised, I signed it straight away. Playing with this incredible squad and in front of our amazing fans gives me a special excitement and buzz. I can see the direction the club is going and I feel honored to be a part of the long-term plan…”

Ighalo joined Watford from Udinese back in July 2014 and helped them to get promoted to the Premier League with a 20 goal haul.

He has also scored an impressive 37 goals in just 80 appearances since he joined the Hornets and scored 3 in 9 for his country against Italy, Spain and Norway.

Watford’s part time magician the amazing Troy Deeney also signed a new deal to stay at Vicarage Road.
