Deal done: Medical already completed, Arsenal target completes transfer

Laurent Koscielny will be rested, and not feature in the Gunners match against Liverpool on Sunday and our other key central defenders Per Mertesacker and Gabriel have already been ruled out with long term injuries meaning we are already short for the first game of the season. We play Liverpool this Sunday as Arsene Wenger scavenges around the transfer market bins to find a CB replacement in time for the visit of  Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Arsenal continue to be linked with the sublime (Mustafi) to the ridiculous (Jonny Evans) as the transfer window rolls on, and talking of ridiculous, it’s claimed that Arsene Wenger was trying to get Thomas Vermaelen back to The Emirates. Sadly, however it looks like Roma have beaten us to the transfer (if indeed there was any truth in it, in the first place) claim the BBC.

Spanish news outlet Soccerlens has also reported that the 31-year-old ex-Arsenal captain has already completed his medical with the Serie A side, and will join them on loan with an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

The Belgian international defender departed The Emirates Stadium in 2014 to join Barcelona in a deal worth £15m but injuries has have restricted him to just 11 appearances since he arrived at the Camp Nou Stadium.

Greek international defender Kostas Manolas has been linked to a move the Premier League, and the arrival of Vermaelen could signal the end of the £25m rated defender’s career at the Stadio Olimpico Stadium – he’ll be the latest player to be linked with a move to Arsenal, no doubt.
