Arsenal set to complete signing for 17-goal winger, personal terms already agreed

Having already completing the signings of Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding, the Arsenal manager Arsenal Wenger is still active in the transfer window searching for the perfect man to replace Theo Walcott on the wing.

The media has linked Arsenal with many attacking players in recent weeks, but Leicester City’s Algerian striker Riyad Mahrez has now emerged as the Gunners main target this summer. A report in Le Buteur via TheSportReview reckons the 25-year-old ace has already agreed personal terms ahead of a possible move to The Emirates. It’s thought Arsene Wenger and Steve Bould were both in Paris last night to watch Mahrez, who was playing for Leicester in a 4-0 drubbing by PSG.

Leicester City’s manager Claudio Ranieri said earlier this month that the Algerian will remain with the Premier League champions and wants the player to ignore the speculation about leaving the King Power Stadium. Mahrez put in many impressive performances last season, helping Leicester to win the league, and was also named PFA Player of the Year.

He also scored an amazing 17 goals, and provided 11 assists in 37 league appearances, and it would make a lot of sense as a signing for Arsenal, giving the squad and the fans a massive boost ahead of the new season, and he’ll help to reduce the pressure on Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Who knows, if Wenger signs Mahrez, competition for places could even mean Theo Walcott find his magic touch once again, and returns to the player we once knew and loved…?
