BFG – Out for ‘a Few Months’

Per Mertesacker is set to miss months of, if not all of, the new season after picking up a serious knee injury in our first friendly against Lens last week.

It’s thought the injury was so serious, that the German has already had surgery, and so serious that Arsene Wenger has even said that he’s looking for a new centre back, as the players we have are lacking experience.

After Lyon’s classy outburst about our paltry 35m Euro offer for Alexandre Lacazette, le Boss said in his press conference, that we’ll continue to prefer doing our business in secret.

Wenger said at last night’s press conference: “Lyon is responsible for their own statements, on the transfer front, I think the best option is always to keep it as secret as possible. If we sign somebody, we will announce it…”

Rumours afoot that we’re about to go back with an improved offer are as yet unconfirmed, as is any interest in Leicester’s Riyad Marhez…

TV to Italy…

Former Arsenal captain Tomas Vermaelen could be about to join his former Arsenal team mate, former Arsenal keeper Wojiech Szczesny at AC Roma, following in the footsteps of former Arsenal player Ashley Cole. The player is said to be a summer target for Roma along with Anderlecht’s Youri Tielemans…
