Not Icardi – Arsenal close in on third signing, as player completes medical at Emirates

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told the media that he is going to lure three players to the Emirates this summer. The French manager has already signed two players so far in Granit Xhaka and Takuma Asano, and it appears Wenger is working hard to stick to his word and land another player.

Arsenal have been linked with a host of players this summer but it seems the North London are about to complete the third signing of the summer transfer window by luring Bolton centre back Rob Holding, according to reports in The Bolton News.

The 20-year-old ace has been linked with a move to the Emirates for a while, but it now seems Wenger is trying to finally sign the England U21 international this summer as he is in search for a consistent CB partner for Laurent Koscielny.

The report from The Bolton News claims that Bolton has accepted an improved bid of around £2.5m from the North London club and it’s thought that Holding has already passed a medical at the Emirates Stadium and will discuss personal terms to complete the move in the next day or two.

Holding, 20, is known as a versatile player, can play as both full back and centre back which would give Wenger plenty more defensive options. Last season, Holding featured in 30 games and netted one goal and an assist.

Personally, I hope Arsenal are focusing on a world class hitman to join Giroud up front, but we are also in need of a consistent replacement for Mertesacker who was looking slow and old towards the end of last season – no offence to the BFG!
