Arsenal receive great boost in the pursuit of 36 goals in 35 games hitman.
Arsenal have been received a major boost in their race to sign Gonzalo Higuain after his agent confirmed he won’t be renewing any deal with Napoli, according to Sky Sports. The Argentinean international as long been linked with a move to the Emirates with our interest reportedly across back to when he was with Real before his move to Napoli in 2013.
With Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger really wants to sign another striker to compete with Olivier Giroud next season and it was also rumoured that Danny Welbeck will be out for the majority of next season. The 28-year-old ace still have two years left on his current contract with Napoli and Sky Sports claim that Serie A giant have been demanding as high as for the full value of his £72m release clause.
However, the same reports as it that we’ve now gotten a boost in our pursuit as his brother, Nicolas Higuain, and agent has confirmed he does not have any intention of signing a new deal with Napoli.
“We arrived with a Champions League project, of being champions, of growing, and the response of the company was not the most correct. It’s their right to ask for his buyout clause, but we will opt for the path of not renewing the contract and he will be free in 2018. In these conditions we are going to respect the contract that we have with Napoli but we are not going to renew it under any circumstances. Gonzalo is super professional and will continue to give the maximum…”
This will sound good to the ears of the Gunners fans and it will be an interesting move after the agent claims Higuain is not interested in extension his contract. Clubs usually don’t like seeing their key players entering the final two years of their contracts that mean is value will drop next season when he’ll have 12 months remaining on his deal. Napoli could decide make profits from him this summer while his value is at it’s highest but Higuain’s agent knows no club will pay as much as £72m for the 29-year-old ace so he’s putting pressure on Napoli to lower is price.
Higuain will be an upgrade for the Gunner and I see Wenger doing all he could to sign such a world-class striker like Higuain who netted 36 goals in 35 games for Napoli last season. But for a deal worth £72m I rather prefer Wenger signing both Draxler and Morata for that amount who could provide Wenger more options in the forward and impact the team greatly.
