MSN Strike to End Arsenal’s Hopes…
Barcelona 3-1 Arsenal…
Predictably enough, despite a half decent performance with a bit of snap and a bit of fight, we went down 3-1 to Barcelona on a rainy Wednesday night in… well Barcelona.
Mo Elneny had fired us level and we enjoyed over 20 good chances to take the game to the Spaniards but as is the story this season, we’re creating the chances, but not converting them, and paying the price. If Ramsey finishes that chance v Spurs, Oli G doesn’t hit the bar against Swansea at 1-0, if Theo puts that double chance away at home to Southampton, things could have been oh so different in the league as well. To get ahead of the game, betting on the rest of the season’s games, head on over to Hityah for all the best deals and special offers…
However, it’s not meant to be and the Barca front three of Messi, Neymar and Suarez all grabbed a goal each to send us crashing out at the last 16 stage for the 90th time in a row, and we only have ourselves to blame. Good performances from several players left the scoreline respectable, notably David Ospina who made some great saves, and in fairness couldn’t do much about the goals against the best side in the world (outside of N5).
Keeper Signs…
Ryan Huddart has signed a new contract after impressing for the U21s recently.
Well, that’s about it, so well done Ryan!
Sqaud Goals…
Chuba Akpom has been called up for the England U21 squad who play Switzerland in the European Championship qualifiers. The ahem highly in form Theo Walcott joins up with the senior squad, along with actually in form Danny Welbeck…
Wenger Defiant!
As pressure grows on Arsene Wenger ahead of this weekend make or break game at Everton, he remains defiant that we can still win the league, despite finding ourselves lying third, 11 points off the lead with just 8 games left.
He was pleased with the performance in Spain, and hinted things aren’t over yet: ““I’m pleased with the performance, the quality of our game was good. I’m disappointed with the result but we played a team with the best three strikers I’ve seen. The Premier League is more open than people think…”
